The FDIS is delivered by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI)
How do fire doors differ from ordinary doors? Which fire door regulations and standards do you need to adhere to? What are the vital components of a fire door and how do you maintain them?
The Fire Door Inspection Scheme online education programme will help you gain a greater understanding of these issues and more.
The FDIS online education programme is available to anyone who wishes to gain a greater knowledge of fire doors – and a qualification to prove it.
Our training programme is particularly suited to:
• Facilities and estates managers
• Surveyors and building control officers
• Fire door manufacturers and installers
• Commercial and public building owners
• Fire safety and health and safety professionals
• Anyone who is responsible for fire safety in a building
The FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors is a series of online education modules designed to broaden your knowledge of fire door requirements in commercial and residential buildings.
You can study the modules in your own time and wherever it’s most convenient for you. You have up to 12 months from registration to complete your studies and take your exam.
The education programme has been researched and authored by industry experts and leading members of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) – the two principal authorities on fire doors and their components.
With an FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors qualification, you are well placed to improve the standards of fire doors at your workplace and the safety of the people who use the buildings. If you are involved in the sale of fire doors or their essential components, the Diploma will give you a greater understanding of the subject when talking to your clients.
Each module looks at the relevant regulations and standards that apply to fire door components and how certification is crucial to compliance.
Once you feel you are confident with the contents of the modules, you can sit the final exam. Simple online booking makes this easy to fit in with personal schedules and the exam, hosted by Pearson Vue, can be taken at a test centre near you.
If you complete the exam successfully you will be told the result there and then.
You will be awarded the FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors and will be entitled to use the designation DipFD after your name.
It is important to note the Diploma does not allow you to inspect fire doors.
To become an inspector you will need to complete the Diploma and Certificated Inspector Course.
